AWARDS

There will be two awards made at ASIAEM 2017 as follows.
  • Best Student Paper
  • Best Early Career Paper

At the time of submission, please indicate in the optional comments block of the Submission page, if your abstract should be considered for either of these awards. The submitting author should be either a student or an early career candidate. He/she may have co-authors.

Award Committee will invite short-listed candidates to submit lengthier papers and supporting documents for evaluation and presentation as per the criteria for the awards.

The awardees will be honored with prizes and certificates during the Banquet on Wednesday 26 July 2017.

BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARD

The ASIAEM 2017 Student Paper Award is given to up to two outstanding papers whose main Author is a student.

The Student Paper Award is granted based on a full paper presented and a poster presentation in addition to the regular one page Abstract of the conference.

A. Eligibility
  • The main author must be a Full Time student (BSc, MSc, BE, ME, PhD or DSc student) at the date of submission of the paper.
  • The paper must present original results.
  • The paper must not have been presented in another conference or journal (the author retains the copyright and may publish his paper elsewhere).
  • The research must have been conducted by the main Author while he/she is pursuing an academic degree.
B. Process
  • The Author postulates its work to the Student Paper Award at the moment of submitting the one page Abstract in the optional comment section on the submission page.
  • The Awards Committee will ask Full Papers from the best ten Abstract authors.
  • The invited students present a poster, during a special poster session organized exclusively for the contestants.
  • First and second places are decided taken into account the scores given by the juries to the full papers and the presentations during the poster session.
  • The Award will be presented at the banquet of the conference (no more than two Awards)

  • Prize in cash (USD or INR) to be defined from SUMMA Foundation.
F. Evaluation Guidelines
  • The following is a list of criteria to be taken into account by the juries when scoring the papers. Please note that this is just a guideline in order of having a common set of metrics for the evaluations of the papers.
 
1. Background of the problem (10 Points)

The research question is clearly stated and well formulated. The relevance of the research question or problem is clearly explained. Adequate review of the state of the field, prior to the study, is presented (a concise review of field, more than a simple enumeration of references is presented).

2. Research Methodology (15 Points)
  • The techniques used are clearly explained and developed.
  • There is a clear and distinctive method that supports the process of going from the problem to the conclusions.
  • There is an appropriated match between the research question, the theoretical background and the employed methodology.

3. Results (35 Points)
  • For Basic Papers :

    Using synthesis, deduction and/or challenging existing knowledge the author(s) have derived a novel theoretical development.

    The results are a valuable contribution to the field.

    The significance of the results is clearly demonstrated.

    The results are clear enough to allow and/or instruct an informed reader to reproduce the results.

  • For Applied Papers :

    Using existing scientific knowledge, the author(s) developed a novel application, method, technology or creation, with the aim of addressing a practical technical or scientific problem.

    The results are a valuable contribution to the field.

    The significance of the results is clearly demonstrated.

    The results are clear enough to allow and/or instruct an informed reader to reproduce the results.

4. Discussion & Conclusions (15 points)
  • The results are well-summarized and related to the statement of the problem.
  • The conclusions contrast the current work with the prior state of the art.
  • The conclusions are supported by the results/data obtained.
  • The conclusions are presented in a broader context and present the utility and relevance and innovation of the presented work.

5. Clarity of Writing (15 points)
  • The text is coherently organized.
  • Figures, tables and equations are clear and convey precise and insightful information.
  • Concise and comprehensible language is used.

6. Presentation during the poster Session (10 points)

Early Career Award

The ASIAEM 2017 Early Career Award recognizes and encourages the achievements and potentials of up to two scientists/engineers in an early period of their career.

The Award is granted based on the accomplishments and publications obtained by the candidate along his/her career.

A. Eligibility
  • Candidates must be under 35 years of age by the end of the Conference date of 27 July 2017.
  • Candidates must hold a Ph.D. / D.Sc. degree.
  • Candidates must participate in the conference as main author or coauthor of a paper.
B. Process
  • TC chairs, SS chairs members can nominate 1 candidate with CV and a recommendation letter.
  • The Awards Committee evaluates the applications.
  • The Award will be given at the banquet of the conference.
